How to Disable Auto-Download on Whatsapp
So many people these days have become accustomed to using WhatsApp for their day to day communications. Some of these users are good in finding their way through the application, while others can't. A common problem the amateur users face is how to disable auto-download on WhatsApp.
Looking at where I come from, Cameroon to be precise, some average users especially the elderly and some teenage users, can't afford to go for sophisticated phones with bigger RAMS, CPU and internal storage. So they mostly go for the average phones whose specifications can be 1GB RAM, Dual-core CPU (mostly the low-grade Mediatek Processors) and 16 GB internal storage.
Using an application like WhatsApp on a daily bases, you discover your phone has downloaded over 500 pictures and about 100 videos in a month and you run low on internal storage. Most of at times is because the auto-download feature for pictures, videos and audio has not been disabled. In this article, I will guide you on how to disable the auto-download feature.
Disabling Auto-Download on WhatsApp.
- Open your WhatsApp application.
- At the top right hand touch the 3 dots and select "settings".
- Select "Data and Storage usage" the window displayed on your screen.
- Under the sub-heading Media auto-download, select when using mobile data and uncheck(photos, Audio, Videos and Documents).
- Also apply the same approach to "when connected on Wi-Fi" and uncheck (photos, Audio, Videos and Documents).
- After doing this, you now have the authority to decide on which photo, audio, video or documents you will like to download to your device.
